The Nash R3 bite alarms and receiver are a set that have truly stood the test of time. I’ve been using my set for four years now, and I can honestly say they’ve been an absolutely bloody brill.
The first thing that blew me away was the battery life (was forever changing batteries in my Delks). I don’t know what Nash put in these, but it’s nothing short of amazing. I’m talking about countless sessions in all kinds of conditions without a single low-battery warning. It’s a huge relief not to have to worry about them cutting out when you’re in the middle of a big hit.
Speaking of conditions, these things are built like tanks. I’ve fished through torrential rain, bitter cold, and scorching heat, and they haven’t missed a beat. They are completely reliable in all weather, which is something you really appreciate when you’re out on the bank in the middle of a storm. The receiver is just as robust and its range is spot on, giving me the freedom to move around my swim without fear of missing a bite.
One of the best features, for me, is the silent mode on the alarms themselves. When I’m fishing close-in or in a quiet area, I love being able to turn the alarm sound off and just rely on the receiver. It’s a simple feature, but it’s so effective and keeps things nice and discreet.
Another great little bonus is that they come with snag ears, which can be swapped out. It’s a nice touch that adds to the customisation and shows that Nash put some real thought into the design. These look mint on my Korda Singlez
The best part? In 2025, you can pick up a good quality, second-hand set for around £200 on sites like eBay or Facebook Marketplace. For what you get, that’s an absolute bargain. They’ve been a staple of my fishing for four years, and I can’t recommend them enough. They just work.
The Nash R3 bite alarms and receiver are a reliable and durable. Having used them for four years, their exceptionally long battery life and robust, weatherproof construction make these a solid purchase. A key feature is the silent alarm mode, which allows you to rely solely on the receiver for discreet fishing. The set also includes the added benefit of customisable snag ears. Overall, the alarms are a great bargain, especially when purchased second-hand, offering excellent value for money.
